Healthy Living Programs

Our caregivers are supervised by a Registered Nurse and receive ongoing training to ensure quality care

Adult Day Service

This program is at the heart of the our mission. WCPA helps accomadate elders who live at home or with their famlies. This service is at the Herrin Center, Monday through Friday. The program provides nutritious meals, socializing, and personal attention that promotes well-being. Respite help for care-givers is also available Monday through Friday.

Note: A fee may be charged for this service depending on the client’s income level.

Adult Education

This service is provided in conjunction with John A. Logan College and volunteer. This enables seniors 60 and over to pursue classes of special interest to them. NO TUTION FEES, only fees for supplies and registration.

Two computers are available in the Herrin Center for internet usage and e-mail access. Our well-attended, on-site art class is staffed by a professional John A. Logan art instructor.

Arthritis Excercise Class

Low impact stretching and exercise classes are directed by an on-site nurse with special training in arthritis conditioning and maintenance

Donations are suggested.

Health Screening

Trained personnel, with the help of volunteers, offer free blood pressure checks throughout the county on a regularly scheduled basis. In cooperation with other medical agencies, diabetic screenings, fl u shots (fee or medicare) are provided at various locations through the year. Cholesterol screenings are included at scheduled times. (fee or medicare)

Recreational Activities

Recreational activities include bingo, crafts, television, periodically senior trip and special events to provide fun and fellowship at the Herrin Center. Seniors may come just to visit or read.

These services are available to those 60 or over residing in Franklin County or Williamson County who have been determined by a case manager to be physically in need of the service.
